## About this book

The internet sells certainty. This book sells a filter.

Every week a new clip promises monthly income with AI, faceless channels, prompt packs, or “one weird affiliate site.” Most are ads wearing a tutorial costume. This short field guide gives you a repeatable way to strip the costume off — and decide whether a claim is worth a controlled experiment.

It was written by an AI operator for the Trend2Truth lab, then packaged as a real KDP product test: can a short, honest nonfiction ebook earn royalties without a guru brand?

---

## Chapter 1 — The five-column lie detector

When you hear a money claim, open a note and create five columns:

1. **Gross** — the revenue number they imply
2. **Cuts** — platform fees, refunds, ad spend
3. **Tools** — software, stock, contractors
4. **Hours** — weekly labor, including comments and fixes
5. **Net per hour** — what remains after honesty

If a creator will not fill these in public, you do not have a method. You have marketing.

Passive income videos end on beaches. Solvent operators end on spreadsheets.

---

## Chapter 2 — Method vs monetization hook

Separate two things that influencers glue together:

- **Method** — the work that supposedly makes money
- **Hook** — the course, Discord, coaching call, or mastermind they actually sell

You can test a method without buying a hook. If the method collapses without the hook, the business was the course all along.

Ask: “Could I run a 14-day test with under $100 and no community access?” If no, you are shopping, not researching.

---

## Chapter 3 — The AI-operability filter

Some bets an AI agent (or a solo operator with AI) can actually ship:

- Digital files and prompt systems
- SEO/comparison pages
- Calculators and small tools
- Scripts and newsletters drafts

Some bets need a human body or identity every day:

- Filming, driving, stocking shelves
- Platform KYC and tax forms (one-time human is fine — daily human is not “passive”)
- Sales calls and dispute handling

Trend2Truth only fully runs the first category. The second gets logged as a human gate — not faked with lifestyle footage.

## Chapter 4 — Common claims, stripped

### Faceless YouTube
**Craft:** scripts and edits are manufacturable.
**Money:** YPP thresholds, RPM variance, and thumbnail wars.
**Lean:** Nuanced. Inventory ≠ income.

### Prompt packs
**Craft:** trivial for AI.
**Money:** distribution and trust.
**Lean:** Testable. One SKU is an anecdote; a factory is data.

### Dropshipping
**Craft:** AI can research products.
**Money:** ads, suppliers, refunds.
**Lean:** Fake as “passive.” Possible as hard retail.

### Affiliate blogging
**Craft:** comparison pages are shippable.
**Money:** traffic lag + program approvals.
**Lean:** Classic path. Rent-sized checks are rare early.

### Micro-SaaS
**Craft:** weekend tools are real.
**Money:** distribution and retention.
**Lean:** Shipping is the easy part.

### Crypto signal bots
**Lean:** Out of scope. Risk of ruin dressed as automation.

## Chapter 5 — Designing a 14-day experiment

Copy this brief before you spend a weekend:

```
Claim:
Channel:
Budget cap:
Time cap (hours):
Leading metric BEFORE money:
Kill switch:
Human gates:
Start / end dates:
```

Rules:

- Leading metrics beat vanity metrics.
- Kill switches are mandatory. Hope is not a plan.
- Publish the ledger somewhere — even a private note. Memory lies; ledgers don’t.

---

## Chapter 6 — Scoring rubric (0–20 each)

| Dimension | Low | High |
|---|---|---|
| Specificity | Vague niche + vague money | Clear offer + unit economics |
| Effort honesty | “No work” | Labor named |
| Proof | Lifestyle only | Primary dashboards |
| Risk clarity | Hidden downside | Kill criteria |
| AI-operability | Needs a body daily | Digital work an agent can ship |

**0–39** Marketing costume.
**40–69** Narrow before spending.
**70–100** Eligible for a controlled public test.

---

## Chapter 7 — Where money actually shows up

Known models that have paid *someone* (not a promise you’ll be next):

1. **Digital products** with checkout (Stripe, Gumroad)
2. **Affiliate commissions** on buyer-intent pages
3. **Ads** on content that already has traffic
4. **Royalties** (KDP, stock) — usually slow grind math
5. **Services** — fast cash, low autonomy

This lab prioritizes 1–3 because an agent can manufacture the assets. Royalties (this book) are the EXP-011 test. Services are mostly paused — they need an inbox.

---

## Chapter 8 — Closing

You do not need cynicism. You need instrumentation.

Believe claims the way a lab believes hypotheses: provisionally, with a budget, a clock, and a kill switch.

If this guide helped you skip one bad $997 course, it already beat most “passive income” videos on ROI.
